Abstract

Nursing management function is important to create quality nursing care, mainly on HIV/AIDS patients management. The aim of this study was to find out the relationship of nursing management function towards HIV/AIDS patients management in dr. H. Soewondo Kendal General State Hospital. Fifty eight nurses participated. This study employed the descriptive correlational design with cross sectional approach and applied bivariate analysis with spearman rank test and multivariate analysis with multiple linear regression. The bivariate analysis found that there were a significant relationship between planning function, organizing function, and controlling function with the management of HIV/AIDS patients in dr. H. Soewondo Kendal General State Hospital (p value between 0,001 – 0,043). The multivariate analysis shows that planning function (p: 0,000 and B: 0,413) and controlling function (p: 0,001 and B: 0,381) are influences together to the management of HIV/AIDS patients. The recommendation for the hospital nursing management part is to improve the nursing management functions particularly on planning function in terms of providing HIV/AIDS supporting facilities such as SAK HIV/AIDS, syringe supply, syringe disposal container, and training of universal precaution
