Abstract

Burns are a form of tissue damage or loss caused by contact with sources that have high temperatures such as fire, hot water, chemicals, electricity and radiation as well as low temperatures. When there is contact with a thermal source, a chemical reaction takes place that can drain energy from the tissue so that the cell is reduced and damaged. The emergency phase in the case of burns is a very important phase and deserves special attention because it is a critical period for patients with severe burns. Fluid therapy is one of the therapies that will determine the success of critically ill patients. Fluid requirements for patients in critical condition are not fixed but according to the phase of the acute condition. This case study aims to determine the effectiveness of administering fluid therapy to burn patients with a percentage of wounds >10% TBSA in Batang Hospital. The subject of the case study in this scientific paper is a burn patient as many as 1 intervention respondent with a burn percentage area of 30% with sampling using interview and observation methods. The patient's fluid needs after fluid administration has been met can be seen from the results of the calculation of the patient's fluid needs. From this study, fluid therapy in patients with burns plays an important role in replacing lost fluids that cause hypovolemic shock.
