Abstract

Appendicitis is a classic disease that progresses through inflammation caused by obstruction and ischemia. Appendicitis can only be managed through surgical intervention. Wound healing is a normal biological process in the human body and can be influenced by nutritional status and stress. Natural wound healing can be facilitated by consuming albumin-rich foods such as snakehead fish. Scientifically, snakehead fish has been proven to aid in surgical wound healing because it contains bioactive compounds that accelerate the wound healing process, such as glycine amino acid, zinc mineral, and unsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9. The aim of this case study is to investigate the administration of snakehead fish in the wound healing process. This case study utilizes the Evidence Based Practice (EBP) method, focusing on the administration of snakehead fish to two study subjects in the wound healing process of post-op appendectomy patients with snakehead fish administration for 3 days. Data collection can be done through interviews and observations. The results of the study indicate that in both study subjects, there was no exudate type, no exudate amount, normal skin color around the wound, and granulation tissue increased by 80%. After the administration of snakehead fish soup, the wound healing results show that the wounds dried quickly, with the initial bloody exudate type disappearing, the minimal exudate amount becoming absent, the bright red skin color around the wound returning to normal pink, and the granulation tissue increasing from 25% to 90%.
