Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of social support from husbands and families on the tendency of baby blues in postpartum mothers. The process of pregnancy through to the postpartum period begins after childbirth is completed and ends when the reproductive system returns to its pre-pregnancy state. The onset of psychological changes leads to emotional, intellectual, and behavioral disturbances in postpartum mothers due to physiological and psychological changes during the labor process. Some postpartum mothers fail to adapt to these changes, resulting in full psychological disturbances characterized by physical, psychological, and lifestyle changes, as well as rapid adaptation demands on the mother. Failure to adapt can lead to baby blues, which adversely affects the development of the baby and the health of the mother. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, with a maximum period of two weeks postpartum. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires to measure social support from husbands and families, as well as questionnaires to assess the tendency of baby blues. Interviews were also conducted with several respondents to obtain more in-depth explanations. This study considers social support from husbands and families as the independent variable and the tendency of baby blues as the dependent variable. This research is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of social support in reducing the risk of baby blues in postpartum mothers, and to provide a foundation for more effective interventions in supporting maternal mental health and baby development.
