Abstract

Hypertension or better known as high blood pressure is a condition where a person's blood pressure is above the normal or optimal limit of 120 mmHg for systolic and 80 mmHg for diastolic. This disease is categorized as the silent disease because the patient does not know he has hypertension before having his blood pressure checked. Hypertension that occurs for a long time and
continuously can trigger a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and is a major cause of chronic kidney failure. Some risk factors that can cause high blood pressure are
old age, a history of high blood pressure in the family, being overweight followed by a lack of exercise. This phenomenon is caused by changes in people's lifestyles globally, such as the ease of getting ready meals to make consumption of fresh vegetables and fiber reduced, then consumption of salt, fat, sugar, and calories that continue to increase the disease in the elderly due to one of the low salt dietary factors hypertension in the elderly which is not run optimally. This study aims to find out family knowledge about hypertension low salt diet in the elderly.
