Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is ranked seventh as the cause of death in the category of noncommunicable diseases. Indonesia is the sixth country with 10.3 million people with diabetes. There are 4 types of Diabetes Mellitus, one of which is type 2 diabetes mellitus. The risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus include: genetic factors, obesity, age, blood pressure, physical activity, blood sugar levels and stress. Type 2 diabetes mellitus occurs due to a decrease in the amount of insulin production. The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of blood sugar levels in DM patients with DM foot exercises. Management of diabetes mellitus can use non-medical, one of which is by applying physical exercises such as DM foot exercises. Because DM foot exercises can prevent injuries and help improve blood circulation in the legs. Besides that, it can increase the strength of the calf muscles, thigh muscles, and also overcome the limitations of joint movement, the researchers used a case study research design. Researchers used 1 patient in the implementation which was managed with 4 meetings. Based on research, DM foot exercise was proven to reduce blood sugar, at the beginning of the assessment, the GDS was checked, which was 273 mg/dl and after being managed, the final result of the GDS check was 217 mg/dl. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect between DM foot exercise and a decrease in blood sugar levels.
