Abstract

IDWG (Interdialytic Weight Gain) is a increase in fuild volume which is manifested by an increase body weight as an indicator to determine the amount of fluid regulation intake during the interdialytic period and patient self management compliance with fluid regulation in patients receiving hemodialysis therapy. Renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis must limit their fluid intake. Efforts to prevent an increase in IDWG can be done by providing Self Management Dietary Counseling (SMDC) intervention. This case study uses EBP (Evidence Based Practice) method with interviews and observations on 2 subjects study with the criteria of chronic kidney failure patients who experienced an increase in IDWG >3%. this case study shows that SMDC intervention can reduce IDWG between hemodialysis sessions, in study subjects I from 8.3% down to 3.4% and in study subjects II from 7.8% down to 3.3%. SMDC intervention has proven effective in preventing an increase in IDWG in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis.
