Abstract

Nutritional status is one of the benchmarks for assessing the development of a baby's health, many factors can influence a baby's nutritional status, including exclusive breastfeeding, but not all mothers provide exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months because the child has been given MP-ASI before the time, complementary feeding. Early breastfeeding can have a negative influence on a baby's growth and development, therefore the author conducted health education research on the dangers of early complementary feeding and the importance of exclusive breastfeeding as an effort to prevent early complementary feeding. This research aims to identify the effect of health education about early MP-ASI on the growth and development of toddlers in the family. The research method uses explanatory research with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and observation. The sample consisted of two mothers with babies under 6 months in the Patebon 1 Community Health Center area. This research was carried out for one week with 3 visits. The results show that health education is effective in increasing mothers' knowledge about MP-ASI, as seen from the increase in questionnaire scores from 5 to 10 for client I and from 6 to 10 for client II. In conclusion, health education is effective in increasing mothers' knowledge about MP-ASI.
