Abstract

Mental disorders are behavioral or psychological patterns shown by patients that cause distress, dysfunction and reduce quality of life. This reflects psychological dysfunction and is not the result of social deviance or conflict with society. One of the mental disorders that is often encountered is violent behavior, violent behavior is a maladaptive response to anger. Based on previous research, it is known that the application of progressive muscle relaxation is effectively used to control anger in RPK patients. This study aims to analyze how to control anger in RPK patients with progressive muscle relaxation. This case study is a study based on EBP (Evidence based practice) to explore the application of progressive muscle relaxation to the ability to control anger in RPK patients. Patients were observed for 3 days. The type of research used by the researcher in the case study is a descriptive method with a case study approach to management of RPK patients with the application of progressive muscle relaxation. After being given progressive muscle relaxation for 3 days the patient felt happy, was able to show that the patient was able to control his anger, the facial expression relaxed, the eyes were no longer glaring, no longer shouting nor beating the room door and the patient was able to interact with other friends and no longer stay in the room, can already be spoken to with anyone. This shows that progressive muscle relaxation has an effect on controlling anger in patients at risk of violent behavior.
