Abstract

Mental illness is conceptualized as a clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome pattern that occurs in an individual, which is commonly associated with distress. One of the most common mental illnesses is violent behavior. Violent behavior is a person’s angry response or behavior that poses a risk of harming themselves, other people, or the surrounding environment. Violent behavior is one of the mental illnesses commonly found in Indonesia, and it is estimated that the number of patients has reached 2 million people to date. Therefore, this case study is very important to prevent the risk of violent behavior by implementing Low-Impact Aerobic exercise. This research used a descriptive case study method in the form of a case study by collecting data through interviews, observation, documentation, and pre-and post-tests for symptoms of risk of violent behavior. The subjects of this case study were 2 patients with psychiatric illnesses who were at risk of violent behavior at RSJ Dr. Amino Gondohutomo, Central Java in the Gatotkaca room. This research was conducted for 3 days. The research results on the two patients who were at risk of violent behavior showed a reduction in signs and symptoms after implementing Low-Impact Aerobic exercise. Low-Impact Aerobic exercise relies on energy distribution and oxygen absorption that aims to increase endorphins, reducing the risk of violent behavior. It is expected that regular Low-Impact Aerobic exercise can reduce signs and symptoms of the risk of violent behavior.
